Checking your tires air pressure is very important to your tires life, also this gives you a chance to look at your tires and see if they need to be replaced. The vehicle should also have an alignment whenever you need new tires, your alignment can make a big difference in the life of the tires. The attached photos show a vehicle that needs an alignment you can really see were the tire has uneven wear on the outside edge. If your tire monitoring light is on you should check the tires.
How to check the air pressure is a simple procedure, get a tire gauge, always a good thing to keep in your vehicle somewhere. If you do not want to check your tires it is always a good idea to have a local shop check them during an oil change or tire rotation as needed. Unscrew the rubber cap that is on the valve stem that sticks out of your rim on the vehicle. Then put the gauge on the tire and the gauge thing will pop out at the pressure that it is at. Most passenger tires run around 35, bigger vehicles can run around 55 plus. If you carry a load you will need more air in your tires to help with the distribution.
